Pedini - Integra

Pedini - integra in grey oak.

This blog was created in order to put together as much information as possible about European kitchen design, European kitchen companies and the different kitchen brands that have been manufacturing custom kitchens and built in kitchens, in Europe for more then a century.

European kitchen designers are the first ones to introduce what we know today as the ‘built in kitchen’ – kitchens that are no longer ‘free-standing’ pieces of furniture (as they were 100 years ago) but kitchens that are designed to have the cabinetry fitting between two walls.

Companies like Snaidero, Boffi, Pedini, Dada, Varenna and Val Cucine, from Italy, Poggenpohl, SieMatic, Allmilmo and Bulthaup , from Germany and Smallbone and Clive Christian, from England are the pioneers, the innovators and the companies that set the tone in Europe – the same tone that then becomes the new look for kitchen design around the world.

    Hi Kitchenguy,

I’m in Los Angeles building a new home and starting to look at the usual suspects around town; Bulthaup, Poggenpohl, Pedini, Snaidero, Poliform, Boffi, Eggersman and SieMatic.

Are you familiar with the reputation of any of the local dealers? Also, any advice on stack ranking these from a quality and design perspective? I’m looking for a minimalist line, no-handles / touch-open design.

    Many thanks!

PS. Have you thought about adding a user forum? Regional forms would be great to post feedback on brands and dealers.

    1. kitchenguy

SSH – all are great products and with all you’ll be able to achieve the look you’re after. Not familier with the local dealers, but one, that I stumbled upon online recently, twice is Pedini LA. Look at their work, at 1877 Rising Glen, and at The Manor (former Spelling Mansion), now owned by Billionaire heiress, Petra Ecclestone.
They seem to be the one to go to!

    Hi kitchenguy

We’ve got 2 kitchen designers quoting us (we’re in the UK) – one is Keller Kitchens and the other is Intoto (who use Alno/Wellmann).

Is there any difference in quality between these 2 brands?

    Many thanks.

    1. kitchenguy

Darren Cooper – Don’t know Keller well. It is a local UK brand…
      Sorry…

    Hello Kitchen Guy;
I am very impressed with your blog and your knowledge about European kitchens.
We are presently searching for a price driven European Kitchen Company to distribute exclusively here in Qatar. We Own a 500 SQM Show room for kitchens and wardrobes that are manufactured localy since 1998 and we are looking to display a European brand in our showroom as most of our competitors do here, and we are willing to open a new showroom.
I have looked around and contacted some companies. I am interested in a company with good value with wide range and innovation. (Preferably they produce classic and modern kitchens)and the price is a priority.
Berloni, Venetta, Nolte, EuroMobil, Del Tongo, Dinovo, Nobilia, Alno,Lube, Snaidero …are all represented here.
I think Stosa, Scavolini , Scic , Arrital, Doimo, Aran, Mobalpa might fit what we are looking for.
My question is what other brands would you suggest and how would rank them according to price and what would be your best choices from your experience even though it is not an easy question.

    Best Regards

    1. kitchenguy

Ralph – this is not a question (that I anser willingly, for free) but a Market Research you’re looking for…
If you wish to hire me to do it for you, please contact me.

richard cheng – Boffi w/o a doubt! Not even in the same league…

Hi, we’re looking to buy a new kitchen as part of major refurb. We live in north west london. Can you recommend quality kitchen designer/fitters for modern but understated look. Budget around £20-25k. Thanks.

  6. Eliane

    Hi Kitchenguy,
thank you for your great posts.
We are renovating an old house in the middle east and have chosen Valcucine’s total glass look for the main kitchen. We need however 2 extra kitchens: an outdoor one, resistant to salty air and sand storms, and one that can fit into a closet for our guests, like Boffi does.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Eliane

    1. kitchenguy

Eliane – sorry, not aware of any outdoor brands in that part of the world (where exactly are you in the M East?) and not sure who has one that can fit into a closet for our guests, like Boffi does.
      kitchenguy

      1. Eliane

        Hello Kitchenguy,
thank you for your answer. I am in Israel, but can import from Italy, Germany or Switzerland, as we will have a container traveling to Israel.
        Any suggestion will be welcome
        Eliane

        1. kitchenguy

Eliane – really not sure what’s available there… Try inoxpack.it for the outdoor kitchen.

  9. Sofia Ball

Sofia Ball – both should be similar quality.
      kitchenguy

  10. MT

    kitchenguy,

    Great blog and vey informative.

Where does Kuhlmann fit in against Hacker, Rotpunkt and Nobilia? You have commented on the other products but not on Kuhlmann.

    Thanks,
    MT

    1. kitchenguy

MT – between Haecker and the other two.
      kitchenguy

    Dear kitchenguy,
Can you tell me your opinion about the quality of Astra Cucine?

    Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Vanessa – they are a ‘price driven’ product. Good value.
      kitchenguy

  14. sumana

  15. Emre

    Hello,

We are planning to renovate our kitchen and we have a budget of £35k. Do you think we can manage to have a modulnova kitchen at this cost range? Or would you recommend us any other kitchen designer with similar style to modulnova and can deliver within our budget range?

    Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Emre – not enough info to answer… – finish, size, incl. tops, appliances, fitting…?
      kitchenguy

  16. Rich

Hi there – would you recommend Hacker or Schmidt for a new kitchen with £20k budget (exc appliances)? Schmidt looked a bit higher quality to me but seems like you very much rate Hacker. Would be interested to know your opinion.

    Many thanks!

  17. Paul

I seen you mentioned a while back that Pedini, Boffi, B&B Italia use the same door manufacturer. Who is this?

    1. kitchenguy

Paul – a door supplier in Marche, Italy.
      kitchenguy

  18. Raj

    Hi kitchen guys
I’m thinking of getting ARREDO3 , great kitchen designer , glass aluminium doors looked great,
Also not sure about the appliances
Siemens ( I heard Siemens & neff having back log problems due to fault)
    Neff
    Miele
    Fisher n Paykel

  19. Sid

    So Kitchen Guy,

Whats the deal with Pronorm?? Good, Bad, Indifferent?

How do they compare in price to a brand like Nolte?

    Thank you

    Sid

    1. kitchenguy

Sid – Pronorm, just like Nolte, are ‘price driven’ products. Very similar in quality.
      kitchenguy

  20. Carl

I’ve been searching info regarding Multiform, without much luck. What’s your view on their kitchens and great if you rank it price and quality wise against Siematic and Pedini.
    Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Carl – they are a very small Danish company, part of the Ballingslöv group. They only have a couple of outlets outside of Denmark and Norway. You really can’t compare them to SeiMatic and/or Pedini, in any way… Sorry…
      kitchenguy

  21. Alexei

Hi! We are facing the choice: Pedini (mid range) or Cesar. What would be your recommendation? What’s your opinion on Bora extractors?

    1. kitchenguy

      Alexei – Pedini.
Don’t know enough about Bora to comment.
      kitchenguy

  22. Laith Maraqa

    Dear kitchen guy
what would be an italian kitchen that compares to scavolini in price and quality, and what would be the medium low ( price) italian kitchen, customs where am from is high so difference in price becomes even bigger and i really want a good italian kitchen

    1. kitchenguy

Laith Maraqa – many brands compare to Scavolini – not a simple answer…
      kitchenguy

  23. ghadeer AR

What would be the top 3 value for money spanish kitchens ???

    1. kitchenguy

ghadeer AR – not a simple answer and require a full analesys
      kitchenguy

  24. Renne

Thanks for the great info. I’m looking into a kitchen and bath remodel in Los angeles. For the kitchen, I got quotes from Boffi, Bulthup, pedini and Miton. Miton’s quote was 30% lower than pedini (22k vs 32k), Boffi was 40k and Bulthup 60k!!! Is there a big difference in the quality of pedini vs. Miton? What about Pedini vs. Boffi?

For bathrooms, I’m looking into Boffi vs. Novello… Any preferences or recommendations for other bathrooms companies?

    Thanks in advance! Much appreciated.

    1. kitchenguy

Renne – a big difference, between Miton and Pedini. Boffi and Bulthaup should be about the same and shouldn’t be much more than Pedini, unless you’re not comparing “apples and apples”…
      kitchenguy

      1. Renne

which one is a better quality Miton or Pedini? Thanks so much!

  25. Sherry

    Hi there –
How do you compare Pedini’s Materika heat treated oak veneer to Poliform’s veneer in terms of quality? Is Poliform’s veneer worth the big price difference?
    Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Sherry – the quality of the venners is the same – they all come from the same suppliers, in most cases…
      kitchenguy

  26. reddy

    Hi Kitchen guy,
Your website has lot of information on kitchens.
Ian looking for a kitchen for my house.
I had two kitchens earlier in my previous houses.
I had tried Scavolini and Snaidero earlier and Iam happy with both.
This time I have bottomed down on Veneta Cucine and Pedini.

The price difference between both of them is not much.
Would you please advise me on which one would be a better choice in terms of quality.

Thanks for your advice in advance
    Reddy

    1. kitchenguy

reddy – Pedini is several levels above Venetta… surprising that is is close in price…
      kitchenguy

  27. elizabeth

I love Siematic, Bulthaup, and Poggenpohl, but it’s priced a little high. Are there other brands besides Pedini that may be more affordable? What do you think of Pedini’s quality? Do you think the German brands are worth investing a little more for? Thank you for your reply.

    1. kitchenguy

elizabeth – there are many, many brands that are more affordable… – where are you located?
Pedini’s quality is as good as Siematic, Bulthaup, and Poggenpohl and shouldn’t be much cheaper (if at all), for the same product specs.
      kitchenguy

      1. elizabeth

I am in San Francisco and prefer Italian and German kitchens. So what mid-priced, stylish brands are available in the bay area I might consider. Thanks!

        1. kitchenguy

elizabeth – in SF you have lots of choices, but I think you’ve pretty much narrowed it to the top few. if it was me and Pedini was less, I’d go with it.
          kitchenguy

  28. Said

    Hello Kitchen Guy,

I would like to thank you for taking your time and helping everyone with their kitchen question’s.

My Name is Said and I am from Oman. Given a choice between Snaidero and Rational kitchens and I understand that both brands are part of Snaidero Group, which kitchen you will go with ? (What would you recomend?)

  29. Guy

Which one is a better quality, Pedini or Boffi? Looking into remodeling a kitchen and a bathroom using one of the brands and the price difference is not much

    1. kitchenguy

Guy – as far as quality, they are very similar. They are using the same hardware manufacturers, some of the same door suppliers, etc.
      kitchenguy

  30. Kelly

What do you think about Miton kitchen? They have a store in LA and their pricing is very competitive compared to other brands. They told me that they use blum hardware but I was wondering if you know anything about the quality of their kitchen cabinets, handless doors and pantry solutions? Thanks so much!

    1. kitchenguy

Kelly – Miton is an ok product. They are not high-end and are ‘price driven’ but if you’re on a budget – they’re ok…
      kitchenguy

  31. Stephanie

    Dear Kitchenguy.
we are building a new home for our family at the seaside near Hamburg in germany. Currently i am working on the new handleless kitchen. At the moment my choice would be siematic, rational or Leicht. I personally did not like Nobilia, and Bulthaup was too expensive. What would you choose in terms of quality?

    Thanks for your help

  32. Roy

    Dear Kitchenguy,

Thanks for a fantastic resource in a very confusing market and for answering directly so many questions. You have been a great source of information!

I have been looking at some kitchen suppliers in my region, but I am a bit confused by how some manufacturers rank in terms of quality. I have seen, and liked a lot, Poggenphol, but it is beyond my budget. Same goes for Siematic. There are not many Italian manufacturers in my region, so I am left with Schmidt, Häcker, Mobalpa, and Störmer as what I think are middle level options. Are they similarly positioned or is the quality of them much better than the others? Would Poggenphol be good enough in terms of an investment to justify making the additional financial effort (more than 10.000 euros)?

    Thanks a lot!

  33. T

Hi kitchenguy, could you kindly share your knowledge on 2 matters?

1a) Is build quality of the following kitchen brands similar? Modulnova, Varenna, Scic, Snaidaro, Euromobil (all come from good suppliers, so if price and build quality are similar, I will go with the company that produces the best design)
1b) Could you rank them solely on this aspect?

I plan to have light colour cabinets with matt finish: either white/off-white/very light grey.
2a) Is wear & tear on the edges of light coloured, high quality laminate quite visible after a few years?
2b)Is the additional cost of matt laquer in these colours worth the extra cost, and does this type of finish have its own quality issues?

Thanks in advance for all your help.
    T

    1. kitchenguy

T – 1. They are all very similar.
      2a) no.
2b) only you can answer the first and yes – its not as strong.
      kitchenguy

      1. T

Thanks a lot! Good to know. And do any of these brands have a reputation for using better quality laminate / laquers than others or while they all be similar too?

        1. kitchenguy

          T – very different, in some cases…
          kitchenguy

  34. MINAL

    Hi kitchen guy,

I live in Kenya and will be renovating the whole kitchen. Options are Nobilia, Snaidero and Poggenpohl. From the 3 can you categorize them in terms of quality and sustainability? I have not yet shopped to know the difference in price, but your answer will assist me in my options.

    Thanks in advance,
    M

    1. kitchenguy

MINAL – Poggenpohl & Snaidero are similar, Nobilia is in a different league all together…
      kitchenguy

      1. MINAL

Thank you kitchen guy. What about Miton Cucine and Ballerina Kutchen?Which one do you recommend? And in terms of price?

        1. kitchenguy

MINAL – Ballerina would be my choice, if all else is equal (finish, price, etc.)
          kitchenguy

  35. ranit

Hi! Do you know which company is better quality, Astra or Bauformat? Astra is about 20% cheaper. Thanks in advance!

    1. kitchenguy

ranit – I feel that they are very similar and for sure not 20% appart…
      kitchenguy

    Hello Kitchen Guy,

How would you compare Snaidero and Stormer Kitchen. Given the choice between then which one to go with regardless of price

    Regards

    1. kitchenguy

Said – from a design stand point, I’d take Snaidero, but if you’re looking for a simple kitchen, Störmer is fine.
      kitchenguy

  38. elian

  41. Joan

Between Leicht and Rational which is the better quality manufacturer for a lacquered finish and overall quality? Your opinion will be much appreciated

    1. kitchenguy

Joan – more or less the same.
      kitchenguy

  42. Jennifer

Hi, Kitchen guy. I have another question, have you heard of Fiamberti and Copat modern ?
They are kitchen cabinet place in LA and they are using those company. I was wondering if you know about these company. How are their cabinet quality compare to Scavolini, Mitona and Pedini.
    Thank you.

    1. kitchenguy

Jennifer – they decent quality, but have hardly any representation in the US, so I would be worried about the service level…
They are nicer than Miton, more or less the same as Scavolini and Pedini is better.
      kitchenguy

      1. Jennifer

        HI, Kitchenguy.

Thank you for your response. This helps a lot to me.
and in your answer, I would assume Pedini is better than Scavolini, right?
then Fiamberti, Copat modern and last will be Miton ( in order of quality ), is that correct?
        Thank you soooo much.

        1. kitchenguy

Jennifer – that will be the order O put them in.
          kitchenguy

  43. Jo

    Hello Kitchen Guy,
Do you know anything about the American company WoodMode and their high gloss cabinets that they are producing to compete with the European lines? Thank you.

    1. kitchenguy

Jo – WoodMode high gloss doors are decent quality, but there is no comperiosn to the real European products and they are actually more expensive…
      kitchenguy

  44. Alex

    Hi Kitchenguy,
We are trying to choose between Cesar, Pedini and Poggenpohl. Could you please tell us which one you would recommend and why?
    Thank you in advance.

    1. kitchenguy

Alex – all 3 are good, but based on quality and design uniqness i’d go with Pedini and Poogenpohl first.
      kitchenguy

  45. Vincent

Thanks in favor of sharing such a fastidious thought, piece of writing is pleasant, thats why i
    ave read it fully

  46. ranit

Do you know if Astra manufacture their products in Italy or China?

  47. tmi

Hi Kitchenguy – great site – thanks! Which would you choose between Leicht, Pedini and Hacker and why?

    1. kitchenguy

tmi – my choice will be Pedini. Higher-end, more exciting designs.
      kitchenguy

    2. kitchenguy

tmi – Pedini. More exciting designs and much more flexible.
      kitchenguy

  48. Weinan

Deciding between Bulthaup b3 anodized aluminum or Pedini wood veneer. Pedini has this smoked wood finish that I quite like. bulthaup quoted me for around 60k and Pedini more than 10k less. What should I choose? Thanks: )

    1. kitchenguy

Weinan – If you like the Pedini finish and its 15% cheaper, I thnk its a ‘no brainer”…
      kitchenguy

  49. Paul

Hi, I have a quote for Arrex, Veneta Cucine, Nobilia and Stosa. The prices are similar for the same layout. My favourite is the Stosa kitchen in white glass. Would you recommend this company and this finish? And do you think I should chose Stosa over the other 3 companies? Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Paul – I’m with you – Stosa it is!
      kitchenguy

  50. Anthony

Hi Kitchen Guy. Love the blog. We are looking at both a Hacker and Nolte kitchen. I can see that you are a strong advocate for Hacker but wondered if you consider Nolte decent quality too or are they a long way apart? Are you able to advise on what makes the difference in quality as I have struggled to find any detail (e.g. cabinet construction, materials etc). Many thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Anthony – Haecker is a better product from all aspects.
      kitchenguy
